The Red Bull Extreme Sailing Team bounced back from a hefty crash at the last round for a victorious start to the Extreme Sailing Series regatta in Barcelona to clinch second overall.
The waters were befitting for the series’ debut in the Catalonian capital, host of the sailing at the 1992 Olympics.

With tactician Hans Peter Steinacher, with whom Hagara won those Olympic titles, the team had to play second fiddle to Oman Air for the overall honours in the fourth act of the season.
“What a race,” said Hagara after the initial win. “I am super happy as we now showed that we are able to fight for victory.”
Red Bull Extreme Sailing Team, with Stewart Dodson, Adam Piggott and Will Tiller also on board, now lie fourth on the Extreme Sailing Series leaderboard behind Alinghi, Oman Air and SAP.
Meanwhile, Red Bull Sailing tightened its grip on the Flying Phantom Series, which runs alongside the Extreme Sailing Series’ European legs.
For the pairing of Thomas Zajac and Antoine Joubert it was a second successive regatta victory.
The Extreme Sailing Series next moves on to Hamburg in Germany for the next regatta from 10 to 13 August 2017 !
