Red Bull Youth America’s Cup got underway in Bermuda this week with Pool A and B Qualifiers June 12-
For the qualifying rounds 12 teams of the world's best youth sailors were split into two groups of six teams:
Pool A (June 15 and 16):

2013 Youth Americas Cup Defenders, the 'NZL Sailing Team' qualify for Red Bull Youth America's Cup final. Three teams found themselves tied at the top in a scintillating opening qualifier to the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup 2017 !

The Crews knew they needed to finish in the top four of the six boats in the pool to book a place in the finals on June 20 and 21.
And in a surprise twist, debutants TeamBDA, a Bermuda team many of whom until recently had never sailed before, sealed the last berth from the pool with a tally of 45.
Those to miss out were American team Next Generation and Candidate Sailing Team, from Austria, in fifth and sixth respectively with 36 points apiece.

Hagara came up with the idea of the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup for the 2013 edition in San Francisco with sailing partner Hans Peter Steinacher.
Many of the competitors from four years ago have since stepped up to the senior regatta, notably Team New Zealand skipper Peter Burling, who will bid for overall America’s Cup glory later this month.
Of the two days of competition in the junior ranks – the class open to 18 to 24-
“The four teams who made it into the final have played the tactical game well and deserved it. Right up until the last race, everything was possible. This shows how high the level of sailors participating in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup really is."
The crews from Pool A: Youth Vikings Denmark, Team France Jeune, SVB Team Germany, Kaijin Team Japan, Team Tilt and Artemis Youth Racing, will now battle it out for the remaining four berths in the final.
